Dataset Size in Submission Requirements

In the rules, the submission requirements state: "The total size of the dataset(s) analyzed by your Application must be between 500MB - 10GB in size."

Does this mean we must provide a dataset with our submission that is at least 500MB in size? What if a dataset of that volume is unnecessary to demonstrate the efficacy of our app?

This is a guideline set to ensure that there is sufficient data to analyze patterns of behavior, to establish meaningful correlations or functionality, and to illustrate the power of a tool like Splunk - rather than simply taking whatever data is available - especially with some of the more complicated security applications. Obviously, this is a range within which we believe should allow you to do all of the above and more.

If you've got a data set that is smaller than this that can sufficiently illustrate the functionality of your app - clearly articulate that in your submission and use your video to explain why and how you believe this is more than enough data to prove the point. We highly encourage you to explore additional data volumes to further illustrate the effectiveness of your app AND to explore additional data sets to correlate additional patterns of activity and most effectively utilize the power of Splunk.
